Rika Asoka

Having worked in Japan, Malaysia, and Australia for over 30 years in positions of interpreter, language trainer, consultant and senior marketing manager, Rika knows first-hand what it takes to survive and thrive abroad. She has helped numerous Japanese managers working in Western Australia to understand and deal with the needs and expectations of their staff, and has worked with multinationals across a wide range of sectors including motor, steel, manufacturing, trading, and service industries. Her clients have included National Panasonic, Toyota Motors, Hyatt, Nissan Motors, Sony, Ericsson, Proton, and KSPC.

Equipped with a great sense of humour, Rika enjoys the many ways in which cultural differences can surprise us, always inviting you to share the fun. When moving to Perth in 2009, she decided to make it her business to assist others in understanding a new culture and communicating and leading effectively in it. A natural focus in her work is to be a bridge between Asian and Australian people, teams, and organisations. Rika joined the IBI team as IRC Representative for Australia and Asia.
